UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors get worn out over time and need to be replaced. When doing this it is important that the new handles are in line with the exact dimensions of the handle that was previously used.
The three measurements to check are the top screw's position, lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to aid you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever or lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be put in on new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a robust design. The handles are inline, and they use the same spindle and screws to secure them. They are easily fitted on any uPVC/Composite door.
The spring lever design allows the handle to be positioned and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the quality of finish and performance will last for a long time. The lever that springs is adjustable to fit a wide range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is further away from the door. A lever that is shorter can be used on doors with latches that can be activated with the thumb on the inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handles are operated by a single spindle or by two spindles, inline or offset. They are usually employed on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes & variations.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White Chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This provides the handle with a high performance and durability to serve its intended use.
All UPVC levers for handles include a spindle and screws and can be mounted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm permit a bigger handle, which is often a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of door handles sagging out of their horizontal position when they are not being used.
When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is important to match the PZ dimensions of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement may also be called 'handle centres' or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.
After you have determined the correct PZ size, you will need to make sure that the push and lever pads are shaped to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are usually square or round with an internal lever, and an external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position when they are not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the property. Also, the majority of UPVC handle lever pad style handles are swivel which allows you to place them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are typically used on uPVC doors, but they can also be found on other types of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder case which then reveals pins which can be aligned to those in the lock body and allow them to rotate an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder you choose is essential. It depends on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. External doors, for instance are required to be fitted with higher security cylinders and internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders are available with extra features that increase security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to each end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place however in the event that this is not possible, you may remove it to measure. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as lock snapping, so it is crucial to make sure it's not too long.
The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. These are designed to reduce the risk of attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This helps deflect the attack and ensure your doors are secure.
Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. window handles is much quicker and easier to achieve than opening multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a burglary, which could hinder the insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is positioned inside the base of the door handle backplate, providing a spring solution that returns the multipoint lock handles back to their rest position after use. There was a time when handles of this kind didn't have a spring built into them, and without it they can droop or drop when the locking mechanism has been disengaged. Adding this simple component is among the best methods to correct this, and is a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in the open or closed position, since they are not always easy to manually close by hand.
These spring cassettes were designed to be used with sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit unsprung handles and you'll need to cut a hole in your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please see the image for a detailed diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes within the door handle backplate of many kinds of uPVC doors. They have a square cut out which can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and they are supplied individually.
